KanchKolar Khosha Bata



Kanchkola in Bengali is nothing but raw banana /plantain and khosha means peel. We love to experiment not only with the vegetable but also the peel. Kanchkolar khosha bata means a smooth spicy paste made with plantain peel paste. This is very delicious recipe.Serve hot with steamed rice. In Bengal we have this as a starter dish mainly served during lunch.


Preparation time : 15 minutes
Cooking time: 10 minutes
Serves : 4 

Ingredients :
3 to 4 raw banana (plantain) peel 
1 ½  tsp garlic paste
1 whole red chilly
 4 to 5 hot green chilly chopped
1 tsp sugar
2 tbsp mustard oil 
salt to taste

Methods Of Cooking :
Take the peel boil the peel with water till soft, you can put them in pressure cooker and cook them till soft. Now drain the water. Let the peel cool down. Now take them in your mixture with green chilly and sugar and salt. Make a fine smooth paste. Now heat oil in a pan ( you can add nigella seed (kalonji / kalo jeera if you want) now add the whole red chilly and garlic paste. When garlic is little fried then add the banana peel paste. Now stir and fry the mixture till it is completely dry but moist. Serve with hot steamed rice. If you want to experiment then can try it as bread spread. Enjoy kanchkolar khosha bata.
