Palak Prawn is a very delicious recipe. This recipe is an inspiration from a FB friend who shared a similar recipe with taro leaves but as taro leaves are not very easy to find and cook as it’s some time are itchy too. So tried it with spinach it comes out too well. I am sure you all will love palak prawn. For those who don’t want to try this with mustard oil can try with coconut oil though not sure but hope it may come out well too. Do let me know how you like it and if you try it with any other oil. I am sure you all will like this new way of cooking palak prawn.
Preparation time : 15 minutes Cooking time : 10 to 15 minutes Serves : 4 to 5 Ingredients a bunch of fresh spinach leaves 10 to 12 prawn ¼ cup coconut paste pinch of turmeric powder 1 tbsp mustard paste 2 to 3 green chilly chopped or to taste 3 tsp mustard oil 1 tsp heavy coconut milk ¼ tsp sugar salt to tastePeel the prawn cut the head and tail off and then devein it. Take all the prawns in a bowl. Add coconut paste, mustard paste, chopped green chilly, sugar, salt and 2 tsp mustard oil. Mix well. Take bowl make a bed of spinach leaves then above it put the mixture of prawn. Then top it with another layer of fresh spinach leaves. Put it in your steamer and steam it for 10 to 15 minutes till the prawns are cooked. Now add 1 tsp oil and heavy coconut milk and with your hand mash whole mixture well keeping the prawn intact. Enjoy palak prawn that’s prawn steamed with spinach with hot steamed rice.
